I Spent the Weekend Breaking Up

I managed not to cry once, although I came close several times. It was a long and complex process but it was for the best. As of today, in furtherance of my 2007 Spending Experiment, I no longer have a relationship with the following catalogues:
J. Crew
Anthropologie
Wisteria
West Elm
Williams-Sonoma Home
F.A.O. Schwartz
Smith & Hawken
Sundance
Crate & Barrel
Pottery Barn
Restoration Hardware

The last one was the hardest. Torture. That's why I saved it for last. We've had so many good times together, Restoration Hardware and I. I'm sitting on one of them right now. But I knew I had to make a clean break. So that's all of them. As with most messy break-ups, they spent all day Saturday and Sunday emailing asking me to come back. Then, resigned but pissy, they said that it might take at least 90 days to fully break contact. Frankly, given the years we've been together I think it's going to take them longer than that to get over me.

...is it bad that I haven't heard of roughly 1/3 of those?

ummm... i dont know you..but i reallly think your gonna need to surround yourself with friends and family to get through this... personally it would take an intervention and possible institutionalization (wow that is a reallly long word) for me to shake those monkeys off my back...

I-66-No it's lovely. Treasure your privacy.

SB-My problem is everyone around me thinks I'm going to last about one week...Except my father, judging by his comment.

Etc-They're owned by Williams-Sonoma/Pottery Barn, so if you get one, you get 'em all. I love Anthropologie but the catalogue is definitely their "runway," displaying looks nobody could actually wear outside of an art gallery rep.

Scarlett-Well, we'll see. I've only got one week under my belt. 51 more to go...

Heather B-I know, I know. That's going to be the toughest clothing shopping spot to forgoe. I almost cried just being on the website to get the "unsubscribe" information.

Phil-Saboteur! J'accuse!

VK-More terrifying words have never been written than "Roosh wrote a post just for you." However, upon reading it I found it to be quite informative.

What's worse I-66 not knowing at least a third of them, or me actually recieving more than a 1/3 of them.

You know what they say, when you love someone, set them free. When they spam and snail mail the living crap out of you with double the catalogs you ever received in the first place then you know it was mean to be.

Hang tight, BB. This is going to be a long, trying road. We're here for ya. I'll officially be picking up your slack in most of those places.

It's probably for the best, because I'm pretty sure J. Crew was cheating on you.

Are catalogues male? If so it takes them as long as the relationship lasted to get over a break up allegedly.

I also let me subscription to "Lucky" run out. It's just too much consumerism for me (and unaffordable consumerism at that).
